Registering Direct

As we operate a 'shared registry system',  we encourage and recommend you to use an Accredited Registrar for domain registration and management.

However, if you wish instead to register directly at the Registry, you need to create an account at my.channelisles.net (unless you already have one).

If you do decide to register direct, you must arrange for your own nameserver service (i.e. authoritiative DNS records such as A/MX records) as this is not provided by the Registry.  Direct registration is only suitable for customers who wish to manage their registration separately from their authoritative DNS services.

If you do not have or operate your own nameservers, you should either

(a) use a registrar that provides zonefile services bundled with registration (this is very often at no additional cost); or
(b) use an external authoritative DNS provider such as Cloudflare, DYN (paid services) or AFRAID.ORG (free service)

Option (b) is more suitable for customers with a technical background - everyone else is recommended to use a registrar

Fees for direct registrations
